File Expert ("the app", "we") is a file manager for Android published by ZenTao Studio. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
File Expert does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking. Everything the app does happens on your device or between your device and servers you choose to connect to.
Files and media on your device. File Expert is a file manager, so it reads, writes,
moves, copies and deletes files you point it at. This requires the All files access
(MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) permission. File contents never leave your device except to a
destination you explicitly choose (see below). We do not read, index, upload or inspect your
files for any purpose other than showing and managing them for you.
Network and cloud locations you add (Pro). If you connect an SMB, SFTP or WebDAV server,
the app sends your files and credentials only to that server, using the address and
account you entered. Credentials are stored encrypted on your device (Android Keystore /
EncryptedSharedPreferences) and are never sent to us or any third party.
Computer web transfer (Pro). This starts a small web server on your device, reachable only over your local network (LAN), so a browser on your computer can transfer files. Traffic stays on your LAN and is not routed through us.
Encrypted vault (Pro). Files you add to the vault are encrypted with AES-256 using a passphrase you choose. The passphrase is never stored or transmitted; if you lose it, the files cannot be recovered.
Notifications. Used to show transfer progress. No content leaves the device.
The one-time "Pro" unlock is processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment information; it is handled entirely by Google. Google's handling of that transaction is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The app stores only a local flag recording that Pro is unlocked.
We do not share any data with third parties, because we do not collect any. The only data that leaves your device is: 1. File contents you transfer to a server/location you configured, and 2. The purchase transaction, handled by Google Play.
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
